Greetings to you all this terrific month of February. We have had lots of home time this month, which has been very nice. I have been busy with my gymnastics and music classes as well as hanging out with Mom, Dad and Ruthie. Ruthie is getting to be such a big girl! She is sitting up very confidently now and loves the mushy baby food! She says, “Ba ba ba ba and ma ma ma ma and da da da.” She goes from a sitting position to her tummy when she wants something out of her reach. She can’t crawl yet, but she sure does make a move for what she wants! She is 6 months old this month! Pretty soon we will be playing together in the beautiful warm weather of spring!! Everything she touches she puts in her mouth. I am very careful not lot let Ruthie have my nini nightnight [pacifier and blanket] because she will try to eat them! One time Daddy held Ruthie up to my face to give me a kiss and I said, “Oh Dad, she’s gonna get me wet for sure! Ruthie, you’re going to get slobber on me!” Ruthie is now old enough to take a bath in the big girl tub with me! We have lots of fun together. She likes to splash. Daddy, Mommy, Uncle Matty and I went to an Indiana Pacers game. I had a very good time and was enthralled with the mascot, Boomer. My Daddy, being the great Daddy he is, scaled over seats and leaped over rows with me in tow to reach Boomer. He yelled down to Boomer who was several rows down and Boomer came up and gave me a high five and blew me a kiss. I am still talking about that because it was so much fun!! I had my first attempted sleepover at my house with my cousin Sadie. We had a great time. Daddy even put up my pink tent in my room. At around 11:30 Sadie got really sad. I went in to my Mom and said, “Mom, Sadie wants to go home now.” She said, “Why?” I said, “Because she misses her people.” Daddy ended up taking her home, but we had fun anyway. We then tried another sleepover a couple of weeks later at my house with Lily and Sadie (sisters). We did it! We slept in the tent and had flashlights and books and our babies and blankets. It was great! Sadie tried to go home, but decided she wanted to sleepover (with my Mom and Dad). Speaking of Sadie, we started taking ice skating lessons this month with Mrs. Sandy. She is so nice and is quite an accomplished ice skating coach. Our first lesson was very interesting. Sadie and I weren’t sure what to think. We were first excited especially when we got our skates on for the first time and started to walk around on the carpet. We were giggling. We then practiced getting up from a sitting position. That was a little tricky. Mom then brought us in to look at the rink. Wow! That was a big hunk of ice! I started to get nervous and thought about the Olympics Mom and I would watch together. I said to Mom, “Mom, I don’t want to do any of those twisty things on the ice like on TV.” She assured me that Sadie and I would not have to do any twisty things! Mrs. Sandy was so nice. As soon as our skates touched the ice we fell down and started giggling. We tried to get up and our feet were slipping and sliding all over the place. We then would finally stand up and hold really still. If we moved an inch we would fall. It was really funny. By the end of the 20-minute lesson, though, we were moving quite well. Our second lesson was much better. I really like ice-skating, but I can’t stand that zamboni. It is very scary and when I came home to tell my Daddy about ice-skating I said, “I saw the zamboni. It is a very big truck that cleans the ice, Daddy. It is noisy and scary and everyone ran off of the ice when it was coming in!” This month I began to write letters. I can write M, N, T, E, I, O, A, H and L so far. It is really fun stuff. We were having dinner the other night and I said, “Wow, Mom, sweet potato and ricewhat a great combination!” Mom and I were out running errands and she was in the intersection waiting to turn left. I then yelled, “Mom! Yellow lightcaution!” Mom went home and told Daddy what I said. Daddy said, “Emma, what does caution mean?” I pointed my finger and said, “Be careful!” Mommy and Daddy just laughed and laughed! Lately I like to tell jokes. Mom and Dad aren’t sure where I learned that, but their sneaking suspicions are that my cousin Michael taught me. I say, “Knock knock, who’s there?” Then I say, “Did you like that joke?” Often I will make suggestions about what Mom and I can do next together. I will say, “Let’s go to my playroom. That’s a great idea!” OK, see you next month. |
