November 2005

Hello friends and family!  November was a wonderful nice month.  The biggest occasion of this month was Ruthie’s reception of the sacraments of Baptism, Chrismation and Holy Eucharist.  It was a gorgeous celebration.  She was baptized in Dt and Opa’s chapel in their home!  That made it so special.  Fr. Youssef came from Cleveland to perform the ceremony.  Aunt Mollie and Giddoo are Ruthie’s godparents.  She was dunked completely for her baptism and actually liked it!  When Father took her out of the water she would cry and when he would dunk her in again she was quiet.  It was so cute.  Uncle Eddie and Auntie Roula came from Houston, Auntie Bethy, Michael and Daniel came from Toledo and Sittoo and Giddoo came of course and brought our good friend, Auntie Jomana.  Uncle Richard and Auntie Gail came from Massachusetts even!  Our family and friends in Indianapolis attended too.  Pictures of Ruthie’s big day are at the end of this month’s gallery.

We celebrated Thanksgiving this year in Indiana with the Smith family.  We went down to Lake Monroe with the gang to spend the weekend together at the lake house.  I had a blast with my cousins Andrew, Carsten, Charlotte, George and Mary.  We read books and watched movies.  We ate and ate and ate.  It is really beautiful down there in Southern Indiana even when all the leaves have fallen.

Ruthie is so adorable.  She is smiling and cooing and lights up when she sees me!  That makes me feel really good!  This month—on November 14th to be exact—she laughed for the first time!  Mommy was kissing her belly and she started to giggle!  I love my little sister so much and often comment on how she is starting to interact because I am so excited to play with her more!

My Dt had cataract surgery this month and Mom and I went to visit her in the recovery room.  I was very curious about my Dt and all of the tubes taped to her arms (intravenous fluids).  The last time I saw someone in a hospital bed with tubes like this was when my Mommy was in the hospital getting Ruthie out of her tummy.  Dt was explaining that the tubes were there to put medicine in her body to help her get better very quickly.  After we had visited Dt for a while, Mommy decided we had better go to let Dt rest.  Mommy asked, “Are you ready to go home, Em?”  I said (rather loudly), “No, Mom, I want to wait until Dt gets her baby out!”  Needless to say all of the nurses and other poor recovering patients near by cracked up!

One of Dt’s nurses came by to ask me about my baby sister.  She was asking all kinds of questions about Ruthie.  When she asked me if Ruthie eats a lot and has lots of bottles, I said, “No, she eats boo boos,” and much to Mom’s astonishment I proceeded to lift my Mom’s shirt to show the nurse just where Ruthie gets her nourishment!

Everyone is saying that my imagination has been “exploding” (whatever that means)!  I still love to pretend that I am different people.  Lately I have been pretending to be my grandmothers, my favorite movie characters and such.  If I am pretending to be someone other than myself and someone tries to ask me a question by calling me by my true name, I will not answer until they address me by my new name.

I guess I have said and done a few more funny things this month.  Mom, Dad, Ruthie and I were in Lowe’s one evening and I was running up and down a very long aisle.  When I turned back to my parents I extended my arms out and dramatically ran toward them shouting, “Oh my family!  I love you my family!  We are a family!”

One evening we were seated for dinner and I said, “Wow!  This steak dinner is delicious.  Thank you everybody.”  I also took a sip of my water one day and said, “MMMMmmm this water is cold and pleasing!”

I was pretending to drive to get my Daddy some coffee and I asked him, “Daddy, do you want two sugars in the raw?”  That’s what he orders at Starbucks!

Ok.  This is a funny one.  Mom and I had just gotten a Starbucks at a busy outdoor shopping center.  It was lunchtime so it was particularly crowded.  Mom’s hands were full and we were approaching the curb to walk to the car in the parking lot.  Mom asked me to hold on to the pocket of her sweat pants while we were walking.  I got a little ahead of Mom and I proceeded to jump off of the curb which pulled Mom’s pants down!  OOOOPS!  Mommy said, “Emma let go of my pants!” because she wanted to pull them back up.  I said, “I can’t, Mommy, there is a car!”  And there sure was a car with a very surprised person inside.  People thought it was very funny.  I didn’t realize what I had done.

The other day I told Mommy, “Mommy, I have a ring like you does.  I’m really married.”  Mommy asked, “Who is your husband?”  I said, “Dt.”

Thanks for visiting!  December update is coming soon!
