May 2005

Whew!  This was a busy and fun month!  We have had lots of pool and outdoor time since the weather has been so beautiful.

Dt and Opa both received honorary doctorate degrees from Marian College in Indianapolis.  They looked really cute in their funny hats.  Sadie, Faith and I were all in pretty dresses for the occasion.

Mother’s Day was very nice.  We had a big cookout at Dt and Opa’s.  It is always fun when all of the cousins are together.

Sittoo and Giddoo came for a visit from Cleveland.  We went to the Indy zoo together and had a blast.  I rode the carousel 2 times and saw the rhinos playing in the mud to keep cool.  My favorite exhibit was the catfish tank with enormous catfish!

My cousin George graduated from high school this month so we went to Wisconsin for the celebration.  It was so nice.  He worked very hard to earn lots of honors.  The hotel in which we stayed was lodge-like and had a big moose out front and lots of bears inside.  I loved visiting the moose every day.  We went to George’s party at a really fun park that had a small zoo as well as little rides for small people like me!  On May 29th we celebrated Dt’s birthday.  It was a very pretty day that day and was also the exact day Georgie graduated.

After Wisconsin, Dad, Mom and I went to Chicago for a few days.  Mom is really expanding so she needed some bigger maternity clothes and we also wanted to visit the zoo and aquarium.  Chicago is such a fun town!  Daddy and I went to the aquarium and saw Nemo, Dude Crush (sea turtle) and even Mr. Ray (sting ray).  Mom, Dad and I went to the Lincoln Park zoo and really enjoyed ourselves.  The sea lions and the carousel particularly enthralled me.

My imagination is really in full gear.  I love Pooh’s Heffalump movie and I pretend that “Lumpy” (the star elephant) is in our yard, is chasing me and plays with me.  It is really fun!  Dad and Mom also use their hands as pretend and friendly spiders.  Dad’s is called Uncle Harry and Mom’s is called Aunt Baldina.  They tickle me and play with me.

I have become very particular about certain things, especially my night night (blanket).  I say, “Mommy fold it, please,” and I like it folded in just the right way.  I will also ask for the “big cover up” where I like Dad or Mom to cover my whole body up with my blanket.

Some of my favorite sayings this month are--“Uh oh, ghetti o franko merican,”  “Oh boy! Oh goodness!”  “Tastes terrible!”  “Delicious!”  “Yummy my tummy!”

I guess I am still really cracking up Dad and Mom because they chuckle when I chat about most anything.  I’ve become quite talkative lately.  When I am upset about something I say, “Emma’s sad.  Poor Emma.”  After the situation is resolved I say, “I am all better now.  Emma is happy!”  If I am curious about the name of someone or something I say, “Mommy, name?”

Well, I’ve got to go play outside now.  It is such a beautiful day!

See you soon and hope you are having a terrific summer!
