March 2005

Hello again!  March was a very nice month.  Mom and DT hosted a baby shower for Mom’s good friend, Aunt Marcia Jay who was on bed rest for most of her pregnancy and so after she had her baby (Carter) they celebrated with a shower!  It was really fun (I crashed the party for a few minutes).

We experienced some wonderfully warm weather toward the end of March, so I was able to get outside and play.  I am really looking forward to summertime!!!

Mom has had a few complications with the pregnancy, so she is currently on bed rest.  It is a real bummer, but we make the best of it.  Daddy has been so good to both Mommy and me.  Mom and I have had to get creative with some fun activities we can do while she is staying down.  We are hoping she will be able to get off bed rest in the next several weeks (7-8).  My little sister is fine and strong, we just hope she stays that way!

Since Mom is on bed rest, Easter was a little different.  I did have a wonderful day though.  I got to wear my beautiful new Easter dress to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection.  Mom and Dad had been preparing me for this great feast day, so when I awakened on Easter Sunday I said, “a lu ya!” [Alleluia] After Mass, Daddy and I went out to brunch with DT, Opa and my Smith cousins.  We were all dressed up and had a ball together!

When I came into our house, Daddy told me that he and Mommy got me an Easter basket.  When I saw it, I ran over to it and said, “NANOO, Daddy!  Nanoo, Mommy!”  (Nanoo means thank you)  Every time I picked out something from my basket I just kept thanking them profusely.  They thought it was really cute, I guess.

My mom couldn’t stop crying because I had my new Easter shoes on and they are my first "big girl" shoes and they "click" on the floor when I walk.  I guess that bed rest has gone to her head!

I’m talking like a champ now!  Mom and Dad have started teaching me the map of the U.S.  I think it is so much fun to learn where my family lives.  I already know that I am from Indiana and can show you on the map.  I also know that my Uncle Eddie and Auntie Roula live in Texas and that my Sittoo and Giddoo live in Ohio.  Minnesota and Wisconsin are the only other two that I know as of now, but I’m eager to learn more!

One of my favorite things is to pick up a phone and say, “Hey, DT (or Pooh, or anyone else for that matter) how ah ya?” I love the telephone!!!!

This month I have learned the real names of many people.  Sometimes I call for my Daddy by saying, “Stevie!”  I also call my Opa, “Bob,” sometimes.  I know my Mom’s name is “Yoni.”  Pronouncing my aunts and uncles‘ names are challenging.  I call my Aunt Meggie “Betty,” Uncle Tom “Hom,” Aunt Veronica “Whitta,” Uncle John “Yon,” etc.

My tumbling class is great!!  I love it!  My favorite part is hanging from the high bar.  My teacher, Miss Robbie, is really nice and she gives me a stamp on my tummy, hands and feet every week!

My Daddy and I went to run an errand a few weeks ago and as we were driving by the bicycle store, there was a big tent because they were having a sale.  My Daddy and I went in and I tried some tricycles, but they were too big, actually.  Daddy ended up buying me my very first big girl bicycle “bitoo!”  It is pink and has a flowered seat and a basket in the front.  Boy, was Mom surprised when we came home and I rode in the room on my new bike with a big pink helmet!!

Love you all and see you next month.
