June 2005

Wow!  On June 14th I turned two years old!  Before I get to that terrific day, I’d better catch you up on the other earlier happenings of the month.

Opa, Dt, and my cousins George, Marylouise and Charlotte (as well as my Auntie Suzie Abdalla) embarked on a fabulous 5-week European excursion beginning with a transatlantic cruise on the QM2!  We went to see them off at the airport and to wish them a bon voyage!

Now for June 14th!  I had several friends and family at my party.  We had such a good time together.  We even had a pony come for rides and a little petting zoo.  My cousin Karli and her friend painted faces and we played games and swam.  It was a beautiful day with people I love.  My cake was sooo cool!  It had jungle animals all over it!  You will see from the pictures what a terrific job the bakery did on that cake.

Now that I am two, I couldn’t resist pulling a little terrible two attitude on my parents this month (just for the heck of it!).  I’m big on the “mine” word.  Even if one of my cousins touches my arm or something I will sometimes pull it away quickly and say, “No! Mine!”  Mom and Dad don’t like that response too much, so I’ve been working on relaxing a little bit and not getting so uptight when friends want to play with my things.  Sharing is a difficult lesson to learn, you know?  First of all you see someone handling your favorite things and secondly you are not sure that you will ever see those things again.  It takes a little while to realize that people just want to try your things out and will put them back when they are finished.  Of course whatever thing of mine someone finds of interest all of the sudden becomes very interesting to me even if it has been months since I have played with it!

I have had 2 trips to the “hopital” this month!  Yikes.  I was standing on the edge of a high bathtub playing a game with Daddy when I pulled my hands out of his and fell backward (headfirst).  I immediately tossed my cookies which panicked my parents so we went to the ER right away.  The doctor was very nice and he wanted to make sure I was thinking straight so he asked me a couple of questions.  He pointed to my Mom and said, “Do you know who that is?”  I said, “That’s Joni.”  He looked at my Mom with a look of perplexity and my Mom shrugged her shoulders and said, “She’s right.  That is my name.”  Silly doctor.  I knew she wasn’t Mom to him!  He then asked, “Emma, do you know how old you are?”  I said, “Almost 2—June fourteenth.”  He looked at my Mom and Dad with a smile and said, “I think she’s just fine.”

The next accident occurred when Dad and I were outside throwing the Frisbee to Mona our dog.  Dad threw the Frisbee and Mona bowled me over running after it.  I face-planted on the asphalt and cut my lip just below my nose.  Man did that smart!  Luckily they just used skin glue and didn’t have to stitch me.  That would have been horrible!

One morning this month I came in to Dad and Mom’s room and climbed up on the bed with Mom for some “buggle buggle” time.  I pulled my Mom’s shirt up over her belly and said, “Emma wants baby sister!  See her now?  Coming out baby?  Hear Emma?”  Mom was just laughing and told me that baby is still too small to come out just yet, but we giggled together and discussed just what I could help Mommy and Daddy do with the baby.  When Mom told me I could help change her diaper, I said, “Poooeeee!  Baby!  Stinky!”  Mom told me that the baby was kicking inside her tummy and I said, “Baby!  What are you doing in Mommy’s tummy?  Silly baby!”

I surprised Mom the other day because I accidentally banged her in the head and I said, “Sorry, Mommom, my fault.”

Oftentimes I go over to the intercom that we use to speak to Dt and Opa when they are home and I say, “Dt?  Opa?  You still far far away up in the sky?”  And when there is no reply I say, “Sure does.”

This month I began to say mealtime grace all by myself.  I enjoy that very much.

I also surprised Dad and Mom in the car the other day by singing all of the lyrics to Pooh’s Heffalump soundtrack.  That soundtrack is really “tool” (cool).

The other day I had my baby doll and I began correcting her.  I said, “Listen me, baby.  Naughty Torner (corner) for you.  Acceptable havior (unacceptable behavior).”  Mom and Dad were stifling their laughs, I could tell.  I proceeded to punish my doll anyway.  I put her in the naughty corner and Mom asked me what she had done wrong.  I said, “Hit.”  That’ll do it, folks.  You hit and you go to the naughty corner!

Well, I’ve sure been wordy this month.  Sorry about the rambling.  It was a big month though, with my birthday and all.   I’m not sure how many pictures we’ll have up for next month.  We just bought a new house and we will be crazy busy getting settled before my little sister arrives!!
